Classes

Hot, medium and mild classes can be found at many times throughout the day. While we specialize in the instruction of hot yoga, we also understand that too hot is not cool and also that a heated studio is not for everyone – and that certain types of yoga do not lend themselves to a heated environment.  We offer classes in styles ranging from hot to hatha, Anusara to Vinyasa with frequent guest instructors and special workshops.

YOGA 101
This is a great class for first-time yoga students.  The pace is much slower than our regular classes, the heat is mild, there are fewer postures and the fundamentals are explained in detail.  All poses in this class are accessible to any level of physical fitness and ability and modifications are taught to avoid pain in any injured areas.  This is a great first step for all who wish to try yoga but are too intimidated by the perceptions many have about yoga.

SLOW FLOW
Slow flow is a gentle yoga with a slower pace than our other classes. Practiced in a warm (90 degree) room with an emphasis on restorative and relaxing postures without the demanding postures found in many power yoga classes. This is an all levels class.

RESTORATIVE
This therapeutic style of yoga promotes relaxation and releases the deep-seated layers of tension in the body. You will use soft blankets, blocks, bolsters and other props, and receive hands on personalized adjustments so that the body opens gently, yet deeply from the inside out. Restorative yoga is non-athletic, and the supported practice allows you to experience the true therapeutic aspects of the poses. This passive style is very approachable and beneficial for new students and people with physical limitations as well as the experienced yogi.


YIN YOGA
Yin Yoga targets the connective tissues of the hips, pelvis, and lower spine, such as the ligaments, bones, and even the joints of the body that normally are not exercised very much in a more active style of asana practice. Suitable for almost all levels of students, Yin Yoga is a perfect complement to the dynamic and muscular styles of yoga that emphasize internal heat, and the lengthening and contracting of our muscles.

YOGA FOR CANCER RECOVERY – By Donation
Claire began teaching Yoga for Cancer Recovery in 2010, while she was undergoing treatment for breast cancer. These classes are open to people living with any type of cancer. Learn to handle the effects of surgery, chemotherapy and radiation. Experience healing techniques for the mind, body and spirit. Boost energy, improve mood, learn relaxation and breath techniques to combat fatigue, stress, and pain. Restore flexibility, strength, range of motion, enhance lymphatic flow, digestion and circulation.


 


HOT 60 A
A set sequenced 60-minute class that is heated to 105 degrees. This class encompasses flow based asana, set standing postures, as well as floor postures structured to open, strengthen, detoxify, and balance the body.

HOT 60 B
A set sequenced 60-minute class heated to 105 degrees designed to challenge different muscle groups than in the Hot 60 A flow. By practicing different set sequence asana flows, you will keep your practice fresh and prepare yourself to take your practice to the next level.

HOT 75
Take your practice deeper with this set sequenced 75-minute class heated to 105 degrees. This class encompasses flow based asana, set standing postures, as well as floor postures structured to open, strengthen, detoxify, and balance the body.

HOT 60A – Espanol
Hot 60 A Flow with a twist! The class will follow the same asana sequence of Hot 60A but will be taught completely in SPANISH. The concept is to take something that is familiar to us, so normal, perhaps even so routine, and make it completely foreign. Taking us from that place of comfort and drawing us to its edge by means of a foreign, unfamiliar language.

HIKING YOGA
Where tree pose meets the trail! Connect with yoga and wide open spaces! This class begins by meeting at the end of Del Mar Scenic Parkway (just off Carmel Valley Road) at the end of the cul de sac. The hike will take place at the north Torrey Pines Extension where we will guide you through an exhilarating hike with yoga practice along the way!

ANUSARA
Anusara Yoga is a powerful hatha yoga system that unifies a Tantric philosophy of intrinsic Goodness with Universal Principles of Alignment. Anusara Yoga is based upon an uplifting philosophy, epitomized by a "celebration of the heart," that looks for the good in all people and all things. Consequently, students of all levels of ability and yoga experience are honored for their unique differences, limitations, and talents. These are non-heated classes.

VINYASA SKILLS – Level 1
The essential elements of a vinyasa flow which emphasizes the breath to move you from one posture to the next. You will learn the skills necessary to bridge between set sequenced hot classes and free flowing vinyasa classes.

VINYASA - Level 1/2
The word "Vinyasa" means "flow with breath". This class consists of flowing poses and sequences that are linked to the breath. This class is diverse and sequencing will vary with instructor philosophy. This non-heated class will accommodate all levels.

VINYASA - Level 2/3
This class consists of more advanced flowing poses and sequences that are linked with breath. This class provides an opportunity to advance in your practice through inversions, arm-balances, and twists. This is a vigorous and more athletic approach to yoga. Recommended for the more advanced yogi.  

HIP HOP VINYASA – Level 2
Get down and get twisted to fresh and eclectic music from current hip hop hits to classic rock, and world beat music. Have fun, sweat hard, and flow to a dynamic Vinyasa beat. The class will be taught as a Level 2 Vinyasa although all levels are welcome.  

VINO AND VINYASA
Detox to Retox! This class will be a FUN Friday evening vinyasa class designed to support you in unwinding, energizing, and socializing to start your weekend off right! All Levels welcome. Must be 21 and over to enjoy the vino!  
 
POWER SCULPT
Warm 60-minute flow combined with individual sets of hand-weights targeting specific muscle groups for a full-body work-out. The addition of weights as you move through the postures challenges your balance and allows for greater depth in each pose while building strength and adding lean muscle mass.  

WAKE UP YOGA
Start your morning off right through mellow stretching followed by a dynamic vinyasa flow set to upbeat music. You will be AWAKE and leave class feeling refreshed, energized, and ready to start your day! Class is taught in a room heated to 105 degrees.

WARRIOR  YOGA
Based on the principles and concepts of martial arts, this movement meditation is a complete healing arts discipline. Warrior Yoga is a physical therapy that focuses equally on balance, strength, and flexibility. Students progress naturally through rhythmically linked postures united with breath, bringing forth a heightened awareness. This potent form of movement meditation promotes purification and union between body, mind, and spirit. This form of yoga combines the most powerful aspects of a typical yoga practice, with a motivational philosophy and instructional format that comes directly from the martial arts tradition. Practiced in a room heated to 105 degrees.
