January Donation Based Classes – Carlsbad



We're VERY excited about the donation based class line up for January. These classes are open to everyone – Haute Yoga members, non-members, 31 Day Challenge participants and those simply looking to spice up their practices and learn something new. Yogis of all levels are welcome to participate.

Saturday, January 7th from 6PM to 7:30PM - Vinyasa Flow with Kenna & Kenneth Gough on Guitar

Join Kenna for a heart-centered Vinyasa Flow accompanied by live acoustic guitar with the amazingly talented and soulful Kenneth Gough. This full spectrum class will dive into heart-opening backbends, introspective forward bends, powerful inversions, playful arm balances and deep hip openers. This non-heated class is for students of all levels.

Sunday, January 8th from 3PM to 4PM - Zumba with Stephanie

Zumba applies dance moves from Salsa, Cumbia, Merengue, Rumba, Mambo, Belly Dance, Reggatone and of course Hip Hop. The class leverages interval training principles by combining fast and slow rhythms for an effective aerobic workout while at the same time targeting your legs, abs, glutes and arms. The choreography is repetitive, easy to follow and super spicey! Anyone who donates $20 or more will receive a Zumba DVD. Wow! Zumba will be taught in a non-heated room. Students of all levels are welcome!

Saturday, January 14th from 6PM to 7:30PM - Power of Touch Vinyasa with Summer & Mikey

Summer and Michael will co-teach Vinyasa Flow with hands-on adjustments. Working together they will guide you through an opening flow deepened by the power of touch. The experience is centered around breath and movement into the full alignment of each posture. Come play and experience the joy and power of two teachers guiding you into the flow.

Sunday, January 15th from 6PM to 7:30PM – Posture Potpourri with Shane & Luke Williams on Guitar

Join Shane for a lively Vinyasa Flow class to live guitar by Luke Williams. This class will be a posture potpourri suitable for yogis of all levels. This class will be taught in a non-heated room.

Saturday, January 21st from 2Pm to 4PM - 2 Hour Advanced Flow with Roxanne

This 2hr meditative advanced flow begins with a 15 minute warm-up and ends with a 10 minute Yoga Nidra extended Savasana. Most postures in the sequence will be familiar to Haute Yoga students but expect to learn and try a few new ones! Guided by Roxanne you will explore new pranayamas (breath techniques), bandhas (vital energy locks), Dharana & Dhyana (concentration & meditation) and visualizations. Prepare to drop in deep and get a thorough sweat. The room will not be heated and all levels are welcome!

Sunday, January 22nd from 6PM to 7:30PM - Yin-Yang Yoga Flow with Cindy Lee and Cheryl Angela on the Harp

Open your heart to the LIVE healing harp music by Cheryl Angela as Cindy Lee lovingly guides you through a gentle Yin-Yang Yoga flow. Yin-Yang Yoga flow begins with a warming Yang vinyasa and transitions into therapeutic Yin postures where longer holds allow you to go deeper and release mental and emotional blocks. This 90 minute class will be taught in a mildly warm room and is appropriate for all levels.

Saturday, January 28th from 6PM to 7:30PM - Restorative Yoga with Questa Li and live music by Tim Flood Music

Restorative Yoga is a gentle practice that fuses soothing, well-supported Hatha Yoga poses, with meditation & breath work, to create a deep feeling of peace, relaxation, and harmony of body, mind, and spirit. This class is appropriate for all levels, from the first time yoga student to the accomplished yogi. Class will be taught in a gently heated room.

Sunday, January 29th from 6PM to 7:30P - Inversion Vinyasa Flow with Sarah Haughton & Live Music by Irwin

Sarah will guide you through a ninety minute vinyasa-flow class, with live music and sounds provided by Irwin (details below).  The class will focus on seamlessly and safely entering and exiting a wide variety of inversions for all levels, in conjunction with a fun and playful vinyasa flow sequence.  Come prepared to overcome your fears, play your edge, and enjoy inspiring and healing beats by Irwin.  Class will close with a lengthy savasana to prepare for a peaceful Sunday evening.  

Irwin is a professional composer and sound designer who's predominant interest is in sound for healing.  Over the years Irwin has provided music and sound design for Deepak Chopra, Shiva Rea, Saul David Raye, as well as many other known yogi's, spiritual leaders, and pop stars.  Irwin typically uses either the most primal and traditional methods of sound/percussion or the latest in science and technology, to create a highly emotive and affective audio experience which is akin to a medicinal sonic tonic. For more information see www.irwinmusic.com
